National Attention – Pastaria’s Ashley Shelton Wins Eater’s Young Guns Award
ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – National Attention – We’ve got a follow up to a fun story we previously posted. We told you about St. Louis’ Ashley Shelton, Executive Chef of Gerard Craft’s Pastaria restaurant, being named one of 48 semifinalists for Eater’s Young Guns award. This is the influential website’s annual recognition of “ambitious and talented industry newcomers.”
The award recognizes chefs and other food and beverage professionals who are under age 30, or who have had fewer than five years of experience in the business. Shelton is 27 years old and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y.. She has worked as a member of the Pastaria staff since the restaurant first opened.
Well, Tuesday, she got the exciting news that she’d been chosen as a member of Eater’s prestigious Young Guns class of 2016. Shelton is the first person from St. Louis to be awarded the high honor from the web-based dining publication. She shares it with nineteen other winners who personify the country’s leading food and beverage rising stars.
Shelton says she’s excited that the award brings more national attention to the local dining community, and thrilled that out of the eight chefs chosen, four, including herself, are women. Stop by the highly popular Pastaria restaurant located at 7734 Forsyth Blvd in Clayton, and say Congrats!
