Missouri Lottery began selling tickets on January 20, 1986

Missouri Lottery is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) and is operated by the Missouri state government.

MO Lottery sold its first ticket on January 20, 1986. In the beginning, proceeds from the sale of tickets were deposited into Missouri’s General Revenue Fund.  However, in 1992, it was voted on and passed Amendment 11, which dedicated the funds to public education. Therefore, beginning in 1993, all funds have been allocated to educational programs, and the Legislature appropriates proceeds.
