The below is attributable to Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus: Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale met with Libyan Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj in New York yesterday. Under Secretary Hale thanked Prime Minister al-Sarraj for the Government of National Accord’s continued partnership with the United States on a range of issues, including counterterrorism. The Under Secretary conveyed U.S. support for UN-led efforts focused on creating the conditions for an enduring ceasefire and a return to an inclusive political process. The Under Secretary and the Prime Minister agreed on the importance of implementing economic reforms in Libya, including enhancing fiscal transparency and stabilizing oil production.
