Tampa, Florida, is the county seat of Hillsborough County, Florida. It sets on the west coast of Florida on Tampa Bay, close to the Gulf of Mexico with approximately 335,000 residents, according to the 2010 census.
It was settled in 1823, incorporated as a town on September 10, 1853, and August 11, 1873. However, it was incorporated in a city on December 15, 1853, and July 15, 1887.
The city covers approximately 175.22 square miles. It is ranked the 52nd in the United States.
Tampa is part of the metro area commonly referred to as the “Tampa Bay Area.” The four-county area is composed of roughly 3.1 million residents, making it the second-largest in the state.
