Pastaria Executive Chef, Ashley Shelton, named an Eater 'Young Guns' semifinalist

ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) Some exciting news about one of our own! St. Louis’ Ashley Shelton, the Executive Chef of Gerard Craft’s popular Pastaria restaurant, was recently named one of 48 semifinalists for Eater’s Young Guns award. It’s the influential website’s annual recognition of “ambitious and talented industry newcomers.” The award identifies chefs and other food and beverage professionals who are under age 30, or who have had fewer than five years of experience in the business. Shelton is 27 years old. She is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., and has worked as a member of the Pastaria staff since the restaurant first opened.

Many of the semifinalists were nominated multiple times, recognized by their peers, customers, and mentors for their dedication to pushing the boundaries of their professions. The list was then narrowed down, and vetted by industry leaders, past Young Guns winners, and Eater staffers.

The 2016 Eater Young Guns winners will be announced on June 28th. Leading up to the announcement, Eater will share background on the stories and experiences of these professionals to provide insight into why they stand out in the industry and what to expect from them in the future. Shelton is the only nominee from Missouri.
