David Sater is a Republican U.S. State Senator representing the 29th District of Barry, Lawrence, McDonald, Stone, and Taney Counties in Missouri. Senator David Sater was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1947. After graduating from Greenwood High School in Springfield in 1965, Sater went on to study Biology and Chemistry at Missouri State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in 1969. Building on his strong and passionate interests in Biology and Chemistry, Sater went on to earn a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 1972. Shortly after, he established his own business in Cassville, Missouri. Sater was the owner and operator of Sater Pharmacy from 1974 to 2004. After a successful run as a small business owner and pharmacist, David Sater began to shift his attention to public service.
Legislative History of David Sater
Sater won his first election in 2004, when he was elected to represent the 68th District in the Missouri State House of Representatives. During his four-term tenure in the Missouri State House of Representatives, Sater was a sitting member on a number of committees, including the Budget Committee, the Appropriations Committee, and the Committee on Health Insurance, in addition to serving as chairman of the Committee on Health, Mental Health, and Social Services, and the Committee on Health Care Policy.
After his fourth and final term as a member of the Missouri State House of Representatives, Sater launched a successful bid for a seat in the Missouri State Senate, representing the 29th District. After receiving continuous support from his constituents, he was reelected to a second term in 2016. Not unlike his time in the Missouri State House of Representatives, Sater is a sitting member on a number of Senate committees, including the Appropriations Committee, the Committee on Fiscal Oversight, the Committee on Health and Pensions, the Joint Committee on the Justice System, and the Joint Committee on Public Assistance. In addition, he currently serves as the Chairman of the Committee on Seniors, Family, and Children, and Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Elections.
Throughout his time in the Missouri State Senate, Senator Sater has sponsored a number of bills aimed at public health; more specifically, bills that aim to enhance the overall health care and health insurance experience for the citizens of Missouri. Senator Sater’s knowledge and passion in the area of public health speaks to his prominence as a pharmacist and small business owner. Due to his work as a Missouri State Senator, Sater received Missouri Pharmacy Association Legislative Leadership Award and the Public Health Award of the Missouri Association of Local Public Health Agencies, among others. Senator Sater was also President of the American Cancer Society.

Currently, Senator David Sater resides with his wife, Sharon, in Cassville, Missouri. Senator Sater represents his constituents in the 29th Senatorial District with first-hand expertise in the area of public health. In addition, Sater is an active member in the community of Cassville. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Cassville, the Cassville Chamber of Commerce, and the Missouri Pharmaceutical Association.
