BATON ROUGE, LA – Yesterday, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards announced that he signed the following bills into law from the 2018 Regular Legislative Session:
ACT 516 – SB 76 Provides relative to controlled dangerous substances in a hospital.
ACT 517 – SB 107 Requires the state Department of Education to provide student assessment results for certain assessments for dispersal to teachers.
ACT 518 – SB 120 Provides relative to premium costs for retired sheriffs and deputy sheriffs of the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office.
ACT 519 – SB 121 Provides an exception for a hospital service district commissioner that owns a pharmacy.
ACT 520 – SB 123 Provides relative to the chief judge of city courts with two or more divisions.
ACT 521 – SB 132 Provides relative to administrative rule approval process applicable to school readiness tax credits.
ACT 522 – SB 152 Provides relative to information provided with the release of school performance scores and letter grades.
ACT 523 – SB 178 Allows students to wear bulletproof backpacks.
ACT 524 – SB 203 Provides relative to the Physical Therapy Licensure Compact.
ACT 525 – SB 237 Requires paid tax preparers to sign and provide an identification number on tax returns, reports, and claims filed with the Department of Revenue.
ACT 526 – SB 238 Authorizes the Department of Revenue to seek to enjoin preparers who engage in certain conduct.
ACT 527 – SB 239 Authorizes the secretary of the Department of Revenue to refuse to register or issue or may revoke a state sales tax resale certificate to new business if the business reorganization was intended to evade payment of sales and use or withholding tax.
ACT 528 – SB 265 Provides for minimum standards for elevator access to multistory courthouses for the disabled community.
ACT 529 – SB 293 Provides relative to the State Licensing Board for Contractors.
ACT 530 – SB 341 Provides for performance audits for statutory dedications that include a fee for service.
ACT 531 – SB 360 Reduces frequency of enhanced audits required of certain local auditees with at least three consecutive years of enhanced audits with no findings.
ACT 532 – SB 411 Provides relative to persons found not guilty by reason of insanity.
ACT 533 – SB 412 Adds “employee” to those individuals authorized to keep a register of motor vehicle sales in salvage pools.
ACT 534 – SB 419 Repeals provision for recusal for members of the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans and changes provisions permitting certain persons to serve on the board.
ACT 535 – SB 457 Provides for recall election petitions.
ACT 536 – HB 51 Provides an exception from dual office holding laws to allow a certified public accountant to hold an office on a school board and employment with a sheriff to provide financial or accounting services.
ACT 537 – HB 84 Provides relative to the authorized uses of inmate labor.
ACT 538 – HB 85 Exempts board members of a neighborhood security and improvement district from Tier 2.1 financial disclosure requirements.
ACT 539 – HB 96 Provides relative to local sales taxes in Lafourche Parish.
ACT 540 – HB 138 Provides relative to the authority of the secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to appoint special agents.
ACT 541 – HB 142 Increases the waste tire disposal fee applicable to passenger and light truck tires.
ACT 542 – HB 253 Provides relative to the application of the habitual offender law.
ACT 543 – HB 286 Changes the fee applicable to certain accident reports.
ACT 544 – HB 316 Allows for the use of the Budget Stabilization Fund for the state costs associated with a declared disaster.
ACT 545 – HB 346 Removes an ethics exception which allows a person to be employed by a board when the person has served as a member of the board as designee of a mayor of certain municipalities.
ACT 546 – HB 351 Provides relative to voting by persons in a nursing home.
ACT 547 – HB 387 Revises the Parents’ Bill of Rights for Public Schools.
ACT 548 – HB 388 Provides relative to emergency management.
ACT 549 – HB 389 Increases penalties for the crime of sexual assault of persons with infirmities and provides enhanced penalties under certain circumstances.
ACT 550 – HB 409 Provides relative to limitations on certain changes to precinct boundaries during certain times.
ACT 551 – HB 441 Creates the “Military Order of the Purple Heart First Responder Program” special prestige license plate.
ACT 552 – HB 450 Provides relative to the possession of driver’s licenses and special identification cards.
ACT 553 – HB 493 Provides relative to the Judicial Council of the Supreme Court of Louisiana.
ACT 554 – HB 496 Provides for a voluntary fee on driver’s license applications to benefit the Military Family Assistance Fund.
ACT 555 – HB 509 Requires presentations at public meetings relative to plans for schools in need of academic improvement.
ACT 556 – HB 520 Provides relative to disclosure of information in the state central registry of reports of child abuse and neglect.
ACT 557 – HB 546 Amends provisions of law regarding emergency medical response vehicles.
ACT 558 – HB 604 Provides for health insurance for the families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
ACT 559 – HB 617 Modifies relative to transfers of interest and property disclosure forms.
ACT 560 – HB 621 Provides relative to omnibus corporate filing regulation.
ACT 561 – HB 631 Provides that a recommendation for clemency by the Board of Pardons does not expire upon the expiration of a governor’s term in office.
ACT 562 – HB 643 Provides for the regulation of the adoption of children.
ACT 563 – HB 897 Provides relative to prohibited acts by bail enforcement agents.
