Boston Police Arrest Miguel Vasquez Jr. for Loaded Firearm in Dorchester

Boston, MA (STL.News) At about 2:44 AM on Sunday, August 9, 2020, officers made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of 1176 Massachusetts Avenue in Dorchester.  While on patrol, officers received a radio transmission describing a white motor vehicle in which the operator displayed a firearm.  The vehicle was last seen turning onto Massachusetts Avenue from Allstate Road.  Officers continued their patrol and eventually observed a motor vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle traveling on Massachusetts Ave.  Officers followed the vehicle to the intersection of Mass Ave and Allstate Road where they were able to successfully match the license plate to the one provided by BPD Operations.  Officers initiated a traffic stop and removed the operator and the passenger from the vehicle. Inside of the operator’s waistband, officers recovered a Stoeger STR 9mm firearm loaded with fifteen rounds of live ammunition.  The operator was taken into custody.  The passenger was identified and released.

Officers arrested Miguel Vasquez Jr., 29-years-old, of Dorchester.  Vasquez Jr. is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Subsequent Offense, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License Second Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon to wit Firearm.
