Bank of America is a publicly-traded company that offers investment banking and financial services in Charlotte, North Carolina. Commonly referred to as BOA, it has locations in New York City, Dallas, London, Hong Kong, and Toronto.
The banking empire was built through mergers and acquisitions, including Merrill Lynch for wealth management and investment banking division known as Bank of America Merrill Lynch, which was created in 2008 and 2009. The investment bank is considered the third-largest investment bank in the world as of 2018.
Wealth management is responsible for managing more than $1 trillion, making it the second-largest wealth manager in the world after UBS.
The commercial banking division has more than 4,600 bank locations with more than 15,900 ATMs.
The market capitalization of BOA is estimated at more than $300 billion, making it the 13th larges company in the world, 6th largest publicly traded company in the US, ranked 24th on the 2018 Fortune 500 based on revenue, accompanied by much other statistical data.
Having been the center of controversy and investigations, BOA plays an important part of the business world through America and the entire world. The bank was created from the economic recession that began in 2008 and continued throughout the Obama era, creating the idea of “too big to fail.”
