Trump Says The Iran Memorandum Of Understanding Is Not Final And Threatens Bombing

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France, June 17 (STL.News) – U.S. President Donald Trump clarified on Wednesday that the recently established memorandum of understanding regarding Iran is not a final agreement.

Speaking during the G7 summit, the President emphasized that the framework remains subject to change based on future developments.

The document serves as a temporary 60-day ceasefire and negotiation window. While the agreement is intended to pave the way for a permanent treaty and address nuclear concerns, the administration maintains that the path forward is conditional.

President Trump warned that the United States is prepared to resume aggressive military actions if Tehran fails to comply with the terms. He indicated that economic sanctions would not be lifted immediately as part of this initial framework.

“It’s a memorandum of understanding. And if I don’t like it, we’ll go back to shooting at them, dropping bombs on their head. If I don’t like it, if they don’t behave, we’ll go right back to dropping bombs right smack in the middle of their head, OK?” said Trump.

The U.S. naval blockade currently surrounding Iranian ports remains active until the formal signing ceremony, which is scheduled for this Friday in Geneva, Switzerland. Despite the ongoing tension, market analysts noted that oil prices declined following the announcement of the preliminary framework. Negotiations continue as international mediators work to transition the temporary ceasefire into a long-term resolution, though significant disputes regarding asset freezes and maritime transit fees remain unresolved.
