CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, IL – July 26, 2026 (STL.News) The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Intelligence has been called in to lead a homicide investigation following the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy in Cahokia Heights on Saturday night.
According to a press release issued by law enforcement, officers from the Cahokia Heights Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. First responders arrived at the scene in the 1100 block of Camp Jackson Road, situated near a local McDonald’s and the Cahokia Village Shopping Center.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the 16-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
As the investigation enters its early stages, authorities have withheld the identity of the victim pending family notification. Investigators have not yet released details regarding a potential motive or the circumstances leading up to the fatal encounter, and no suspects are currently in custody.
Deputy Commander Kyle Bade of the Shiloh Police Department is directing the investigation.
