WASHINGTON — The top House Democrat says she wants to know what the Russians have on Donald Trump “politically, financially and personally.” But California’s Nancy Pelosi won’t say whether she’d hold hearings on that next year if her party wins House control and she becomes speaker.
The minority leader says she can’t explain the president’s “disrespect for NATO” or his “lack of understanding” of Russia’s threat.
Asked if she’d hold hearings on the subject, she said Democrats should focus on issues like health care and infrastructure and making sure Russian interference in U.S. elections doesn’t happen again.
Democrats hope to win House control in November’s elections. Many liberals want to aggressively attack Trump during the campaign, but others are concerned about alienating moderate voters.
