Florida authorities announced the arrest and extradition of a Louisiana man, Eddie Filce, accused of being a child predator.

Investigators say the suspect allegedly communicated online with undercover agents posing as minors.

Officials stated the case reflects ongoing nationwide efforts to combat online child exploitation crimes.

Florida Officials Announce Arrest in Multi-State Investigation

TALLAHASSEE, FL – May 18, 2026 (STL.News) Florida law enforcement officials announced the arrest and extradition of a Louisiana man accused of attempting to exploit minors through online communications during an undercover investigation.

Authorities identified the suspect as 66-year-old Eddie Filce of Louisiana. Investigators said he was taken into custody outside Florida following a coordinated operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies and is now expected to face prosecution in Florida.

State officials described the arrest as part of continuing efforts to target individuals accused of using online platforms and digital communication tools to prey on children.

Undercover Investigation Led to Arrest

According to investigators, the case began after undercover agents allegedly engaged in online conversations with the suspect while posing as minors. Authorities said the communications eventually led investigators to identify and locate the suspect in Louisiana.

Law enforcement officials stated that detectives collected digital evidence during the investigation before coordinating with Louisiana authorities to carry out the arrest.

The suspect was later extradited to Florida to face multiple felony charges connected to the investigation.

Officials have not released extensive details about the evidence because the case remains active and involves allegations tied to minors.

Online Child Exploitation Remains a Growing Concern

Authorities said cases involving online exploitation continue increasing nationwide as predators increasingly use social media, messaging apps, gaming platforms, and other online services to contact potential victims.

Law enforcement agencies across the country have expanded cybercrime and child exploitation units in response to the growing threat. Investigators say online predators frequently attempt to hide behind fake identities and encrypted communications, making coordinated investigations critical.

Florida officials emphasized that protecting children from online exploitation remains one of the state’s highest public safety priorities.

“This case demonstrates that investigators are actively monitoring and pursuing individuals accused of targeting children online,” one official said following the announcement.

Interstate Cooperation Played a Key Role

Officials credited cooperation between Florida investigators, Louisiana law enforcement agencies, and federal partners for helping locate and apprehend the suspect.

Authorities noted that digital crimes involving minors often cross state boundaries, requiring coordination between multiple jurisdictions to track suspects and gather evidence.

Law enforcement leaders said advances in digital forensics and cyber investigations are improving their ability to identify suspects even when they attempt to relocate or communicate anonymously online.

Officials Urge Parents to Monitor Online Activity

The investigation also prompted renewed warnings from authorities about the dangers children face online.

Officials encouraged parents to monitor social media use, gaming interactions, and private messaging applications, and to educate children about the risks of communicating with strangers online.

Law enforcement agencies continue urging the public to report suspicious online behavior involving minors as quickly as possible.

Investigators say community awareness and rapid reporting can play major roles in preventing exploitation and assisting ongoing investigations.

Florida Continues Aggressive Anti-Predator Enforcement

Florida officials stated the state has increased resources dedicated to child exploitation investigations in recent years, including specialized cybercrime task forces and expanded digital forensic capabilities.

Authorities said they intend to continue aggressively pursuing individuals accused of targeting children through online platforms and interstate communication networks.

The suspect remains in custody as prosecutors prepare for upcoming court proceedings in Florida. Officials indicated that additional information regarding the charges and the legal process may be released as the case moves through the judicial system.
