What is a content aggregator a.k.a. blog aggregator?

It is more simple than it might sound.  A content aggregator uses RSS feeds to import content and then post it on their website.  Most blog aggregators have traffic and are highly ranked.

In comparison, search engines like Google are content aggregators on a very large scale.  Nonetheless, they index websites and show those websites in search results.

Google News is another perfect example of a content aggregator.  They index news articles from pre-approved news sites, and then show those news articles in search results in Google Search and Google News search results.

Content aggregator a.k.a. blog aggregators are a great strategy to build back-links to your website, assuming you routinely post blog articles.  It will project your content into the world wide web and create back-links to your website, which will help your website rankings and drive traffic to your website.

High quality content aggregators a.k.a. blog aggregators typically charge a fee to aggregate and promote your content to help pay for the resources used to operate their website.

Caution should be exercised when choosing aggregators.  Some have spam like content, some drop links after a period of time, defeating the purpose of aggregating in the first place and some might not rank well, which will not help drive traffic to your website.

  1. AllTop.com – is a well known blog aggregator that is ranked as of October 13, 2018 by Ahrefs at 15,006 with a UR Rating of 83, DR of 79 with 11.2M back-links from 19.4K websites.  It is a safe site using an SSL certificate.
  2. Blogarama.com – promotes itself as a blog directory that is ranked, as of October 13, 2018 by Ahrefs, at 28,653 with a UR Rating of 51, DR of 76 with 37.04M back-links from 52.3K websites.  It is a safe site using an SSL certificate.  Disclosure: STL.News is aggregated by Blograma.com.
  3. Blogengage.com – is a small aggregator ranked, as of October 13, 2018 by Ahrefs, at 145,987 with a UR Rating of 17, DR Rating of 66 with 507K back-links from 3.6K websites.  This is NOT a safe site due to missing SSL certificate.
  4. Blogcatalog.com – is a blog aggregator that is ranked, as of October 13, 2018 by Ahrefs, at 15,431 with a UR Rating of 27, DR Rating of 79 with 74.6M back-links from 104K referring domains.  It is a safe site using an SSL certificate.
  5. BlogSearchEngine.com – is a blog aggregator ranked, as of October 13, 2018 by Ahrefs, at 213,426 with a UR Rating of 22, DR Rating of 62 with 1.56M back-links from 6.83K referring domains.  It is a safe site using SSL certificate.
  6. Blokube.com – is a blog aggregator, owned by the same party as Blogengage.com, ranked as of October 13, 2018 by Ahrefs at 1,387,212 with a UR Rating of 17, DR Rating of 41 with 14.7K back-links from 870 referring domains.  It is not a safe site due to missing SSL certificate.
  7. EatonWeb.com – is a blog directory, does not aggregate blogs, but might be used to help promote your blog.  They claim to be the oldest blog directory on the web.  Ranked as of October 13, 2018 by Ahrefs at 163,395 with a UR Rating of 29, DR Rating of 65 with 705K back-links from 4.35K referring sites.  It is not a safe site due to missing SSL Certificate.  Disclosure: we have STL.News listed in EatonWeb.com.
  8. FeedPublish.com – is a blog aggregator that is ranked, as of October 13, 2018 by Ahrefs, at 831,202 with a UR Rating of 84, DR Rating of 47 with 1.37M back-links from 11.9K referring domains.  It is a safe site using an SSL certificate.  STL.News is aggregated by FeedPublish.com.

It should be noted that the highest DR Rating and the fifth most in-bound links is FeedPublish.com, #8.

There are not many blog aggregators online to choose from.  These are currently available for use.  They are highly rated and will help improve your rankings and traffic.  Naturally, we recommend choosing one with a great back-link portfolio indicated by the highest UR Rating and one that uses an SSL certificate, which increases their online reputation with the major search engines.
