United States – Today, Grace Koh joined the U.S. Department of State’s Office of International Communications and Information Policy to lead preparations and the U.S. delegation to the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19) under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The conference will take place October 28 – November 22, 2019 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. World Radiocommunication Conferences are held every four years to update the international Radio Regulations – a treaty governing the global use of the radio frequency spectrum, including satellite applications. WRC-19 is expected to address many current and important issues, including spectrum management, next generation mobile broadband systems, and global satellite services. WRC-19 is a significant opportunity to advance United States’ interests related to telecommunications, innovation, economic growth, and national security.
Ms. Koh has a distinguished career in public service having recently served as Special Assistant to the President of the United States for Technology, Telecom and Cybersecurity Policy at the National Economic Council. She also has extensive private sector experience leading issues of national importance on technology, legal, and regulatory policy to the media, tech and telecom industry.
