United States – Civil Rights Organizations – Civil Rights Groups

Civil Rights are Constitutional Rights for Every American

CIVIL RIGHTS & CIVIL RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS – There are multiple civil rights organizations, associations and groups across the United States.  We have attempted to list all of them in alphabetical order, but may have missed some.

Civil Rights is defined as: the rights of citizens to political and social freedom and equality.

The highest level or Civil Rights protection is provided by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.  View their Press Releases.

U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has a Civil Rights Division.  It was created in 1957 by the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1957.  It works to uphold the civil and constitutional rights of all Americans, particularly some of the most vulnerable members of our society.  It also enforces federal statutes prohibiting discrimination on the following:

  • Color
  • Disability
  • Familial status
  • National Origin
  • Race
  • Sex

Justice Department Press Release relating to the division are available HERE.
