St. Louis’ LEADING Nationally Recognized Designer Resale Boutique “Women’s Closet Exchange”
ST. LOUIS, MO/July 13, 2017 (STL.News) Whether you’re a die-hard fashionista or merely someone who admires the talents of the fashion industry overall, the fact that St. Louis is working toward reviving its historic legacy in the US fashion industry is exciting news for everyone. After all, St Louis’ once celebrated garment district was second only to New York as a major fashion hub in the late 19th century. St. Louis is seeing a fashion revival thanks to the efforts of some dedicated business leaders.
The Saint Louis Fashion Fund, the non-profit at the helm of the city’s cultural rebirth in fashion, recently opened the doors to its fashion incubator. The two-year, intensive program offers emerging designers tools and guidance to elevate their business to the next level. The incubator, positioned as the centerpiece of the garment district at 1533 Washington Ave, houses six designers in residence who were named last August. The Fund’s $2 million-dollar campaign launched in 2015 has already raised more than $1.3 million toward helping breathe new life into the once dynamic local fashion industry.
Key in restoring St. Louis’ once remarkable legacy is the huge support given to local designers and to major events such as St. Louis Fashion Week. This fall will be the 12th season for the show, which is the largest of its kind in the Midwest. It provides designers with valuable resources, important networking opportunities, and a showcase for both local and national designers to connect with a Midwest audience.
One extremely progressive business leader playing a pinnacle role in recognizing and promoting local artists is Krista Tolbert. Her business, Women’s Closet Exchange, is a nationally recognized designer resale and consignment boutique on the corner of Sappington and Gravois Road in the South St. Louis County. Her boutique is holding a designer showcase featuring local St. Louis designers. The New Face of Women’s Closet Exchange Celebration will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 11 am – 3 pm.
Krista brings an extensive 25 year background in the retail industry and her own innate panache for fashion and unique pieces. She is a University of Missouri-Columbia graduate and has held several executive management positions with large department stores and specialty shops, as well as roles in human resources and recruiting. She is also a proud member of the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), and N.A.R.T.S (National Association of Resale Professionals.)
When Krista took over as new owner of the Women’s Closet Exchange in 2016 she came in with a ‘fresh’ new take on the vision of enhancing women’s lives. The boutique was the brainchild of resale queen Sue McCarthy, and setting for Style Network’s Resale Royalty. The Women’s Closet Exchange has been successfully dressing women in St. Louis and around the country for nearly to 30 years.
Besides continuing the legacy of providing fabulous, exclusive designer brands and styles at an affordable price to all her customers, Tolbert has raised the bar even higher. In an effort to make the shopping experience more personal for her customers, she has elevated the boutique to a new level with her special “Pamper Me” personal wardrobe styling services, plus private shopping parties.
Krista also recently had St. Louis Media, LLC do an entire website makeover, adding E commerce, making shopping even easier for her customers. The boutique is now selling and shipping elegant items all over the United States. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with latest new arrivals and special sales.
