Farm Girl Meats

ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – Consumers are quickly becoming aware of the social, environmental and health concerns of mass produced foods.  Thanks to an outpouring of education in mass and social media, local is the new organic and shoppers are hungry for value-added foods from smaller, closer farms.

One local farmer is on a mission to make it easier to get healthy, local foods, with an emphasis on meat.  Leslie Moore started Farmer Girl Meats in 2012 to make it easier for St. Louis urbanites to enjoy the same healthful farm-fresh meats she grew up raising and eating on her family’s grass fed beef farm.

Leslie’s mission is to get more good meat on to more city plates.  Specifically, she’s passionate about giving families access to 100% grass fed and pasture raised meats.  Farmer Girl Meats gives shoppers the ability to buy grass fed beef, free range poultry and eggs, pasture raised pork and lamb directly from a small group of family farms.  Customers can rest assured that their meats are pasture raised with integrity, and are “yuck-free”, guaranteed to never have antibiotics, hormones, or artificial additives.

After moving away from the farm and attending Washington University in St. Louis, Leslie saw an opportunity to connect customers with her high-quality, slow-food meats via an online store and home delivery service.  “It became obvious that an online store was the easiest way to connect our network of small farms with health and Eco-conscious meat eaters who want grass fed and pasture raised meats that aren’t always easy to find” says Leslie.

Leslie and her team deliver their meats frozen, right to your front door on any or every Thursday.  Leslie calls it Pasture to Porch Delivery, and hopes it changes the way people think about the food supply.

“We’re giving families an opportunity to buy food from farmers they can trust, with quality they can expect.  That’s so important in an industry where mysterious factory-farming practices have become the norm.” says Moore, “Hopefully, online shopping makes it easier for more consumers to buy from local farms and stick with it.  The health and environmental benefits are so worth it. And we think it tastes a lot better too.”

Farmer Girl Meats home delivers to the Greater St. Louis area every Thursday and offers nationwide shipping.  Shoppers can choose to shop for items a la carte, or from a selection of pre-curated bundle boxes and a build-your-own subscription box service called Auto Re-Order.
