South Grand Christmas Celebration

A South Grand Christmas Celebration

Small Business Saturday & Grinchmas Festivities – South Grand Christmas Celebration

St. Louis, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – Nothing says the holidays are upon us quite like the lighting of the Christmas tree!  And this year, in the Grand South Grand neighborhood, you’re invited to join local merchants and residents in celebrating the start of the holiday season on Small Business Saturday!  The stores and restaurants along the historic south city shopping district will be open all day November 26th. But from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. the South Grand Cultural Alliance will hold the First Annual South Grand Tree Lighting Ceremony at Ritz Park, 3147 S. Grand Blvd.

The South Grand Business and Entertainment district is several blocks along S. Grand Blvd. between Crittenden and Utah Streets, at the southeast corner of Tower Grove Park in South St. Louis.  There are more than 30 restaurants, cafes and clubs along that stretch of Grand.  There are also some 20 shops and boutiques, along with dozens of other businesses.  You’ll find everything from funky resale shops to gelato vendors to bookstores, and even a Fuller Brush distributor!  These are the kinds of businesses Small Business Saturday is intended to highlight.

Ritz Park is a slip of park in the heart of the South Grand shopping district, right between neighborhood anchors The King and I Restaurant and Mangia Italiano.  Festivities at the park will include crackling fires, carolers, and the lighting of the 20 foot LED Animated Christmas Tree Lightshow with Music.  The elaborate display has been created by Raven Fox’ Radiant Studio Works.  The Tower Grove new media and entertainment production studio specializes in creating immersive environments and installations combining video, lighting and sound projection.

Aesh Design (3735 Connecticut St, St. Louis, MO 63116) will provide the fire pits and the South Grand CID will be making the S’mores. Rooster STL at 3150 South Grand (across the street) will provide Hot Cocoa during the event.  They’ll also be open for business, with their full dinner, coffee and cocktail menu available.  As will other restaurants, cafes and pubs along South Grand.

The Grand Tree Lighting is only the beginning of the holiday celebrations along South Grand this year.  On the following Saturday, December 3rd, the Grinch will pay a visit to Ritz Park! “Grinchmas” will be from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Instead of stealing Christmas, the Grinch will be raising spirits (and cash) for Shriners Hospitals for Children. For a $7 donation, families can have their pictures taken with him.  If you donate a toy, it’s only $5.  The park will also be filled with Moolah Shriner clowns offering face painting and making balloon animals.  Recording artist Nicole Iris, guitarist Isaiah Cox and pianist Lordell Rush will perform from 11 a.m. to noon.  Street parking is available, as well as a free parking lot at 3500 Hartford Street.  It’ll be another great opportunity to share some holiday cheer and a little holiday shopping too!
