Second Salt + Smoke Location Now Open

St. Louis Hills Salt + Smoke Opened with a Crowd

ST. LOUIS, MO/November 12, 2017 (STL.News) – South St. Louis has a new barbecue joint that brings a Delmar Loop favorite to St. Louis Hills.  Salt + Smoke BBQ Bourbon Beer just opened a second location at 5625 Hampton Avenue.  The new barbecue and whiskey joint occupies the former home of long-time south city favorite, Del Pietro’s Ristorante.  The first day of service at the new South City barbecue restaurant was Sunday, October 30.  Customers welcomed the new restaurant to the neighborhood by lining up outside before the 11:00 a.m. opening.

The original Salt + Smoke at 6525 Delmar Blvd, in the heart of the University City Loop began offering Texas style barbecue in 2014.  The restaurant quickly earned rave reviews from food critics and customers alike.  Those positive customer reviews put them in two of our Top 10 lists in 2017.  Thanks to a bar program that includes more than 100 different whiskeys, they are currently #5 on our list of the Top 10 Whiskey Bars in St. Louis, published in August 2017.  Their delicious food and drink combined with their cozy, pet-friendly patio to place them at #10 on last month’s Best Dog-Friendly Restaurants in St. Louis top 10 list.

Like the Delmar location, the new southside Salt + Smoke offers Texas style BBQ, featuring slow-smoked beef brisket, fall-off-the-bone-tender St. Louis-cut pork ribs, and scratch-made sides and pies.–ngTWOgsFI

Salt + Smoke also offers more than 100 different bourbons, artisan and barrel aged cocktails, plus craft beer options that rotate regularly.  Customers rave about the brisket, ribs, fried pickles, hush puppies dipped in maple butter, burnt-ends toasted ravioli, and chocolate pie—all of which can be found at both locations.

The new St. Louis Hills restaurant is a bit bigger than the original Delmar spot.  The new place has room for 140 diners inside, with a patio for additional seating when the weather permits.  There’s also a private event space that seats up to 100.  Both Salt + Smoke locations are open 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. seven days a week.
