Have Your Cake and Eat It Too – I Scream Cakes'

Maplewood Gets Comfort Food with I Scream Cakes’

MAPLEWOOD, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – I scream, you scream, we all scream “CAKES!” I Scream Cakes’ new satellite shop recently moved into Maplewood, and they’re currently dishing out some exceptionally, yummy treats. They offer 16 different artisanal ice creams and sorbets in a variety of scoops, shakes and sundaes with some exclusive flavors, like blackberry coffee topped with KaKao hot fudge, and homemade whipped cream.  I Scream Cakes’!

This is the unique ice-cream maker’s second location, after opening its main production facility in May 2011 on Cherokee Street. Founders Kerry Soraci, and Mike McLaughlin of the Crow’s Nest, co-own the new shop together. Soraci works with pastry Chef Beth Hughes, formerly of Eclipse Restaurant, to craft her from-scratch creations.

They make organic and locally sourced dairy-based ‘iscreams’ using whole natural foods for their flavors, They also have one or two vegan flavors, as well as, gluten-free cones and treats like cookie and brownie sandwiches. And Fido is more than welcome, there’s wholesome ingredients for our four-legged family members.

Expect a décor full of bright shades of pink, orange and green, and big rubber bouncy balls serving as seats. But if you’re looking for “traditional”, you won’t find it here. Besides the uniquely sculpted candy-clay cakes shaped like candy skulls, extra-large sushi rolls, and many more, Soraci intends to offer additional pre-made goodies such as drumsticks and ‘iscream’ cake cups sometime in the near future.
