The “Nip & Tuck” Becoming a Thing of the Past

New Age of Non-Surgical Beauty for Modern Women

The “Nip & Tuck” Becoming a Thing of the Past: Non-Surgical Beauty for Modern Women

August 21, 2017 (STL.News) Let’s face it.  We live in a world obsessed with youth and beauty.  We all want to feel younger and especially LOOK Younger.  Have you ever considered that your own body could become your fountain of youth?  Well it’s more than just possible and it’s happening more and more.

Fading are the days when a “nip and tuck” were the only options.  It’s true…the end of the facelift is on the horizon as modern women are shirking away from invasive surgery for milder, more moderate methods of preventing skin ageing.  According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the popularity of face-lifts has been on the decline for the past decade..

Michelle Kichura owns Eternity Medical Spa in Creve Coeur and is excited about all the current non-evasive techniques that are available.  “It’s amazing that we’ve come this far with so many wonderful ways to turn back the clock.”  She’s thrilled to be giving customers the opportunity to look younger and feel younger with so little down time.  Kichura says they are continuously keeping up with all the latest technology and most up-to- date procedures.

The concept of growing old gracefully is a noble one, but in this day and age, looking vibrant and refreshed is not just a matter of vanity but also professional survival.  That’s why it’s so important that patients have such a wide array of choices involving non-invasive techniques.  It’s ALL about options!

Luckily for us, there is now an abundance of next-generation noninvasive cosmetic procedures such as revolutionary lasers, quick fillers, and resurfacing treatments, all offering subtle refreshment without going under the knife.  Some procedures may take more than one treatment but it can be well worth the effort.

Some of today’s most popular treatments for cosmetic facial rejuvenation involve PRP, better known as Platelet Rich Plasma and Stem Cell Therapy.  It’s been around for a while. You might have heard it called, “The Vampire Facelift.”  It’s been referred to as a type of self-cloning because it uses your our own body to heal itself, therefore creating who you used to be.  You look like yourself…just a few years healthier and younger because your skin’s rejuvenated.

“It’s your business how old you are but it’s my business how young you look,” says Pam Vandiver, an L.E. Laser Specialist at the spa.  Her days are filled up with requests for her anti-aging facials concentrating on exfoliating skin with her dermaplaning techniques, choice of chemical peels, micro-needling, laser treatments, as well as, nourishing the skin with her oxygen facials.  “I talk to my clients about the health of their skin and tell them “when the skin looks healthier, you look younger.” she added.

Bellafill is another popular procedure that’s all the rage.  It’s a semi-permanent dermal filler used to correct smile lines and for the treatment of acne scars.  It is also an answer to adding more volume in those facial areas that are starting to look hollow.  “The collagen provides immediate volume to the skin,” says Fran Intravia, one of the spa’s top injectors.  “It’s all about having an artistic eye at studying the symmetry of the face & determining where volume is most needed.”

Some results can be seen immediately but continues to get better over time.  The FDA has approved it for 10 years and the largest and longest dermal filler study ever conducted found an unprecedented 87% retention at 5 years with only needling touch-up necessary at that time.

Although we’d like to think we can hide from it, gravity eventually finds us all, no matter how many protein drinks we down, facial miracle lotions we apply, or how often we hit the gym!  So, no matter which micro-treatments you’re contemplating, remember it’s not all about looking decades younger.  It’s those subtle changes when others can’t quite figure out why, but just know you look more amazing than ever!

As they say…you’ve come a long way baby!”
