Missouri Lottery News: New Year’s Eve Win Inspires 2019 Home Repairs for Alison Baker

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Jan. 12, 2019 – With a $100,000 Missouri Lottery Scratchers prize in-hand, a Webster Groves woman’s New Year resolution is to spend more time with her family.

“We live in an older home with a pool that we haven’t been able to use,” said Alison Baker.  “In the St. Louis summer heat, I’ve always looked at the pool dreaming of a day that I could fix it and get my kids out of the house to spend time by the pool together.”

Following the purchase of a “Big Money Crossword” Scratchers ticket on Dec. 31, Baker’s wish will become reality in 2019.

“I’ll usually grab some coffee before work, and sometimes I’ll get a Scratchers ticket, too,” said Baker.  “I like the crossword games most.  They’re cathartic for me.”

Soon after purchasing her ticket from Circle K, 8199 Manchester Road in St. Louis, Baker had a surreal experience.

“I realized I was matching a lot of words.  I figured it was $5,000, which would have been great,” said Baker.  “I looked at the prize levels, and saw $100,000 for 10 words.  I couldn’t believe it.”

Remodeling the family pool is not the only home repair Baker is planning to complete with the $100,000 prize.  A roof replacement is also in the works.

Introduced on Sept. 10, 2018, “Big Money Crossword” is a $5 crossword-inspired Scratchers game.  Baker claimed one of five $100,000 top prizes available in the game.
