JEFFERSON CITY, MO (STL.News) Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway has announced her office has begun a regularly scheduled audit of the government of Osage County, located in central Missouri. The county’s most recent audit was released in December 2014, and received an overall performance rating of poor. A follow-up report was issued by the State Auditor’s Office in May 2015.
“This audit will review previous findings to ensure progress has continued while also taking a fresh look at county operations and practices to find any areas where Osage County can make improvements to better serve the public,” Auditor Galloway said. “I encourage residents who have information that may be helpful to contact our Whistleblower Hotline.”
Among the recommendations in the 2014 review were that the county commission review records of purchases by the road and bridge department, as well as work with the prosecuting attorney to investigate questionable rock purchases, the improper use of a county vehicle, and missing equipment. Other recommendations included better review of timesheets and improvement of compensatory time and overtime and leave policies.
