Missouri Attorney General Schmitt Announces Sentencing of Wayne County Convicted Child Rapist, Daniel Martin

Jefferson City, MO (STL.News) – Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt announced yesterday the sentencing of Daniel Martin, who was sentenced to 38 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for sodomy, rape and molestation of a minor.

“One of my most important duties as Attorney General of Missouri is to protect our citizens – especially children – from harm.  I’m grateful to law enforcement and prosecutors in Bollinger and Wayne County who helped put Daniel Martin in prison,” said Schmitt.  “I will continue to be vigilant in my efforts to protect vulnerable Missourians and to get criminals like Martin off our streets.”

On March 27, 2019, a Wayne County jury convicted Martin of one count of Statutory Rape 1st Degree, one count of Attempted Statutory Rape 1st Degree, three counts of Statutory Sodomy 1st Degree, one count of Attempted Statutory Sodomy 1st Degree, and three counts of Child Molestation 3rd Degree.

Martin sexually abused the 12 year old victim for several months at a home in Bollinger County.  When the victim bravely reported the abuse to her mother, her mother immediately contacted the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Department.

Following an excellent investigation by the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Department, the Attorney General’s Office was appointed to assist the Bollinger County Prosecutor’s Office in prosecuting the case.

Assistant Attorneys General Jennifer Szczucinski and Julia Rives tried the case with the assistance of Investigator Michael Boll and Victim Advocate Carrie Boessen.
