Showcasing the Southampton Neighborhood – Macklind Days 2016
ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) — South City residents will ring in autumn with the traditional Macklind Days street festival. On the last Saturday of September, Macklind Avenue will be blocked off (from Neosho to Nottingham) for a day-long festival celebrating the culture, craft, food and community of SoHa, the Southampton neighborhood. The 2016 fair is from noon-8 pm on September 24.
Now in its eighth year, this family-friendly event began as a way to promote local businesses and build a sense of community in the Southampton neighborhood. Since then it’s grown into a south city tradition, showcasing this vibrant community and the numerous, unique eateries that call it home.
Macklind Days 16 will feature live music, street entertainers, unique product vendors, bounce houses and other kids activities, and of course, fabulous food! Local restaurants offering food for purchase include JJ Twig’s South Hampton, Copper Pig, Russell’s on Macklind, Onesto Pizza & Trattoria, The Mack Bar and Grill, Clementine’s Naughty & Nice Creamery , Edibles & Essentials. Some vendors will accept credit cards, but cash is always welcome.
SoHa is a traditionally dog-friendly community, so it’s not surprising that the fair is also very dog-friendly. Dogs are welcome at the festival, and there will be two pet vendors: Love Unleashed Dog Daycare and Boarding (5501 Chippewa) is a new to SoHa, and the Best Friends Animal Society.
Admission to the festival is free, even the kids activities and bounce houses, but donations will be accepted.
