Pappy Van Winkle and Buffalo Trace Antique Collection Return to Gamlin Whiskey House for the Holidays
ST. LOUIS, MO/December 3, 2017 (STL.News) Can true Bourbon lovers really tell which ones are the best? You bet they can and you won’t get any arguments when you name Pappy Van Winkle and the Buffalo Trace Antique Collections at the top of the list. The highly sought-after spirit that is released only once a year is officially known as Old Rip Van Winkle Bourbon and the spirit comes from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Pappy Van Winkle is very rare limited edition bourbon aged in barrels for 23 years and is carefully selected from the core of the warehouse. This takes generations of distilling know-how to produce and is made with only the most meticulous and lavish distilling method in order to create a whiskey as superior as this one.
The distillery produces only about 7,500 cases each year with the spirits arriving at only a select number of vendors at the end of October through early December. This year’s release includes 10-, 15- and 23-year whiskeys but will contain no 13-year old Van Winkle Reserve Rye because of an inventory barrel gap.
Buffalo Trace releases only one Antique Collection every year and since its launch over ten years ago, the whiskeys from these collections have earned several awards from publications such as Whisky Advocate Magazine, Spirit Journal, and Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.
Due to the scarcity of the project, some lucky release retailers use a lottery or waiting list, while others announce a sell date on a first-come, first-serve basis. The great news is that Pappy Van Winkle and the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, some of the most popular, and hardest to find bourbons in the world, are now being offered at Gamlin Whiskey House at 236 N. Euclid Avenue, just in time for the holidays.
This release includes:
