Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman met with Republic of Korea Minister of Unification Lee In-young and Republic of Korea Vice Minister of Unification Choi Young-joon in Seoul today. Deputy Secretary Sherman, Minister Lee, and Vice Minister Choi emphasized their shared commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. The Deputy Secretary also expressed U.S. support for inter-Korean dialogue and engagement. Deputy Secretary Sherman, Minister Lee, and Vice Minister Choi reaffirmed that diplomacy and dialogue are essential to achieving complete denuclearization and to establishing permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
