DENVER  CO (STL.News) Governor Jared Polis announced following Boards and Commissions Appointments

Advisory Committee on Governmental Accounting

The Advisory Committee on Governmental Accounting assists the auditor in formulating and prescribing a classification of accounts which will be uniform for every level of local government with exceptions.

for terms expiring May 18, 2025:

  • Gina Lanier of Aurora, Colorado, to serve as a representative of school and junior college districts, reappointed;
  • Anne Penney of Erie, Colorado, to serve as a representative of city and town government, appointed;
  • Stephanie Corbo of Golden, Colorado, to serve as a representative of a county government, appointed.

Coal Mine Board of Examiners

The Coal Mine Board of Examiners prepares and conducts examinations for all applicants to positions in coal mines that require certification under federal law.  The Board issues certificates of competency to those who qualify.  The Board also provides assistance in developing curriculum for coal miner training programs.

for a term expiring July 1, 2025:

  • Michael Gregg McFarland of Dolores, Colorado, to serve as a coal mine owner, operator, manager, or other mine official actively engaged in underground mining, reappointed.

Colorado Educational and Cultural Facilities Board of Directors

The Authority issues bonds to provide affordable financing for educational and cultural buildings and equipment owned by non-profit institutions.

Colorado Humanities Board of Directors

The Board was established to promote progress and scholarship in the humanities and the arts in Colorado.

Education Leadership Council

The Education Leadership Council shall provide a forum to discuss policy, legislative and financial initiatives that could be created, implemented or promoted for the purpose of addressing the state’s early childhood efforts and world-class postsecondary programs and institutions that link directly to the workforce system and to prepare students for successful entry into formal education.

for a term expiring August 8, 2024:

Financial Services Board

This board is the policy-making and rule-making authority for the Division of Financial Services.

Ground Water Commission

The Commission determines the boundaries of designated groundwater basins by geographic description and considers well permit applications for persons desiring to appropriate designated groundwater for beneficial use.  The Commission is responsible for the development of policies and procedures for maximum economic development, as well as the protection of the vested rights of the designated groundwater basins of the state.

for terms expiring May 1, 2025:

  • Marc Christopher Arnusch of Keenesburg, Colorado, to serve as a resident agriculturist from the Lost Creek Basin, reappointed;
  • Scott W. Tietmeyer of Grover, Colorado, a resident agriculturist from the Upper Big Sandy Basin, reappointed;
  • David Keeler of Wray, Colorado, a resident agriculturist from the Northern High Plains Basin, appointed.

Independent Ethics Commission

The Independent Ethics Commission is a constitutionally created independent commission and is charged with the implementation of Article XXIX of the Colorado Constitution.  The purpose of the IEC is to give advice and guidance on ethics issues arising under Article 29 of the Colorado Constitution and any other standards of conduct or reporting requirements as provided by law, and to hear complaints, issue findings and assess penalties and sanctions where appropriate.

Scientific and Cultural Facility District Board of Directors

The Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) Board of Directors oversees seven Denver metropolitan counties—Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Boulder, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson—and comprises more than 280 nonprofit and local government organizations.  These groups provide metro residents with a multitude of programs and activities, many of which are free or low cost, including art, music, theatre, dance, zoology, botany, natural history or cultural history.

State Board of Accountancy

The Board regulates public accountants and reviews applications, gives examinations, grants certificates and permits, and acts on complaints against certified public accountants.

State Board of Chiropractic Examiners

The State Board of Chiropractic Examiners is responsible for making rules and regulations dealing with the Chiropractic Profession in Colorado.  It also grants licenses to qualified applicants, approves chiropractic schools and conducts hearings when necessary.

State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers, and Land Surveyors

The Colorado Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors will regulate the practice of those professions.  Its responsibilities encompass the evaluation of whether applicants are minimally qualified for licensure, the examination of such applicants, licensing, license renewal, setting policy with regard to the practice of the profession, consideration of complaints against licensees and those who may have practiced without a license, and disciplining those who have not complied with the law.

Statewide Internet Portal Authority

The Statewide Internet Portal Authority develops the officially recognized statewide internet portal that provides one-stop access to electronic information, products, and services in order to give members of the public an alternative way to transact business with the state.

Venture Capital Authority

The Authority makes funding available for Colorado businesses in the beginning and early stages of their development.

Western State University Board of Trustees
