SACRAMENTO, CA (STL.News) – California Governor Gavin Newsom issued the following statement yesterday on the passing of Larry N. Olinger, Vice Chairman of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Tribal Council:
“Jennifer and I were saddened to learn of the passing of Larry Olinger, Vice Chairman of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. For decades, Larry served his community with distinction, working for inclusion and self-governance in a variety of roles on the tribal council and tribal boards.
“A son of Palm Springs, Larry saw every role as an opportunity to make life better for his community. His unwavering commitment to public service and to the people of the Coachella Valley represent the best of our state.
“We mourn with his wife Susan, as well as all those who knew and loved Larry.”
